Erick Charles:
The music and lyrics of Twenty One Pilots impacts the lives of its fans in innumerable ways. What if there was a project that brought together these different lives and gave fans a space to tell their stories: the lessons they’ve learned through the music, and a place where they could come to be encouraged through other stories?
“A Pilot’s Pilot” is that project. This site is meant to be a place for “Pilots” to gather and encourage others through their creations: their stories and art relating to Twenty One Pilots. The goal of this site is to let others know that they're not alone in their struggles and battles in life by providing a space for these stories and pieces of art. Not only does this site support Twenty One Pilots’ message of “push[ing]
through unhappiness to find joy”, but it creates a strong bond between the fans that is an even bigger testimony to this bands positive message.
“Are you searching for purpose? Then write something, yeah it might be worthless. Then paint something then, it might be wordless, pointless curses, nonsense verses. You'll see purpose start to surface. No one else is dealing with your demons, meaning maybe defeating them could be the beginning of your meaning, friend.” These lyrics motivated me to create the site. I wanted others who are struggling with their own personal battles to know that they have a purpose in the world, and to encourage them to keep searching for that meaning.
I started this project with my laptop and Twitter account, asking others for their stories. In the past six months, I have published a book with the first 70 stories from the Twenty One Pilots fans. This past October, I was able to present the band members with these books. Currently, we are twenty stories away from printing our second edition book that contains 100 stories! Our Site has 300 followers on Twitter and usually gain between two to four followers a day. People are excited to share their stories about this amazing band.
I would like to join with you and your promotion team for Twenty One Pilots to bring this bands’ fan base to a whole new level. With your help, this site would open up doors for fan involvement and community; something that I have never found in another fan base. People want to know that they are not alone in their battles through life. The music of Twenty One Pilots has taught me that, and this site and the stories on it are a source of encouragement and remembrance of that fact.
I have provided a copy of the first edition book “A Pilot’s Pilot” and a link to the site. Here you will find more information about our purpose, site updates, and current stories. Thank you for your time and possible interest in supporting this project. I look forward to your thoughts and response!
